Instagrammish

When I first learned about this project I was not exactly sure if I would enjoy it. I have never been a person to use filters on my instagram posts, but I have seen plenty of them on other peoples' posts. I personally think the best filters are the ones that pull out the best colors of a photo. I used these photos because I wanted to show how my filter would look on different types of days and lighting.

I started my filter by adding a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. I then dragged the saturation slider until I felt the colors where bright enough. This happened to be at +43 saturation. Then I wanted to increase the brightness of the photo, so I added a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. I slid the brightness slider to +43 because that is where the darker parts of the photo were more visible. Then to make the brightness less harsh, I decreased the contrast slider to -13. At this point, I thought the colors of the photo were a little too bright, so I used what I had learned in the "How to use Levels to add contrast and brightness to your images" video and added a Levels adjustment layer. I then moved the middle gray slider to 1.24 in order to level out the brightness and contrast.

While at first I did not love the idea of this project, it quickly became something I could be interested in. Finding out what different adjustment layers could do to my photos is definitely a skill I will bring to my instagram page soon. It may not have been the most impressive filter, but I am very proud of myself considering I had never done anything like this before.
